The Clubhouse Model Offers

STEPHANIE VINSON, MS, CRC, CPM, CBIS,

Director of Brain Injury Services

Stephanie earned a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She recently retired from a 30 year career with the State of North Carolina, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. After an accomplished career with Vocational Rehabilitation, she decided to join the CWS-Gateway team as the Director of Brain Injury Services in October 2019. Since joining CWS, she quickly earned her CBIS certification (Certified Brain Injury Specialist.) She has been nominated and accepted the request to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Brain Injury Clubhouse Alliance (IBICA.) Stephanie is passionate and committed to helping individuals with brain injury reach their full potential, regain independence and participate in their communities. When Stephanie is not serving individuals with disabilities, she enjoys spending time with Dwayne, her husband of 27 years, their 3 sons, Demetri, Devin and Donovan and 1 fur baby, Coco.  She loves game/movie nights with family, traveling, shopping and yoga.


TRENISE WRIGHT

Trenise Wright is a Queens, New York native and relocated to Raleigh, NC in July of 2012. Trenise has a strong passion for working with individuals in need and has over 20 years of experience working in the field of human services.  Trenise is a graduate of Metropolitan College of New York, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Professional studies.


Trenise is very family oriented and enjoys spending quality time with her three children and other family. In her spare time, Trenise enjoys crafting, shopping and home remodeling. Trenise comfort food would be anything from the sea. Her favorite color is hot pink and her morning must haves is a warm cup of caramel coffee no matter the outside temperature.


Fun Facts: Trenise is a huge dog lover and has two fur babies. Trenise grew up on the beach, loved it as a child. Totally dislikes it as an adult.


Michelle Ward MICHELLE WARD,  BS, QP, CBIS

Gateway Community Support

Michelle has had experience working with persons with various disabilities in the rehabilitation field for over 15 years.  She has spent the last 5 years working in the brain injury field and empowering veterans to increase their independence in their daily lives.  She has a passion for advocating and working with others to assist them to be as independent in their lives as possible. 


Michelle graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science. She lives in Durham, NC with her husband and three girls.  She can be found cheering on her girls at volleyball and soccer games.  She has also been a high school and middle school volleyball coach for 7 years.  She enjoys baking and decorating cakes as a hobby, when she is not at a sporting event.  “Whether it be out in the community with an individual I am working with or on the court with a player, my goal is to assist everyone in finding their potential in every activity that they do. That is what drives me.”


ALMIRA MCMILLAN

Almira is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Since graduating East Carolina University, she has continued to concentrate on cognitive skills and brain health. Through one-on-one training and individualized programs, she feels fortunate to participate in helping to strengthen cognitive skills of individuals of all ages, abilities and goals. At Gateway Clubhouse, Almira continues to work with individuals through Gateway to Work BISS milestones and cognitive rehabilitation through the NC TBI Waiver. As the Gateway to Work Coordinator, she truly enjoy helping people build various skills, search for job opportunities, and gain their job goals. Almira also values being able to give on-the-job supports, including training in the various positions that my Gateway to Work individuals are a part of. With cognitive rehabilitation, Almira enjoys working one-on-one with people of all backgrounds and abilities, to improve cognitive skills. I love seeing the progress that each of us makes, no matter what our goals are. She feels grateful to work and grow with all of the individuals that are a part of Gateway Clubhouse and look forward to being a part of continued progress, education and healing through the Brain Injury community.

 

FRAZELLE HAMPTON 

Frazelle, a native of Richmond, Va. She has a background that include, legal, working in local government, working with seniors and those in the deaf and hard of hearing community. Frazelle has a passion to serve others and help them reach their full potential, and making others laugh.


Frazelle graduated with her Associates degree in Legal Studies from Bryant and Stratton College. She recently relocated to the Raleigh area with her children, a son and a daughter. Frazelle is a loyal cheer mom and band mom and has spent many of weekends at football games as well as cheer and band competitions. In addition, Frazelle is an event planner and enjoys being able to help others celebrate important milestones in their lives. A military brat, she enjoys traveling (the beach is her favorite place), eating yummy food, watching a good movie or just spending time with family and close friends.

    The Clubhouse is structured around a work ordered day with work units that are designed to mirror the expectations and relationships of the workplace. If a member choose to return to paid employment or seek volunteer work, the Clubhouse staff will offer guidance and support to assist in achieving these goals. Community social activities are also planned based on member interest and recommendations.

        Gateway Clubhouse was established in 2010 under the auspice agency Community Workforce Solutions. 
        The Clubhouse was originally located in Garner, NC and moved to the current location in 2018.
